Steps in full

  1. Brew and cool: Brew a strong cup of Kona coffee and let it cool completely to room temperature.
  2. Combine: Add the bourbon, cooled Kona coffee, simple syrup, and all dashes of bitters to a mixing glass filled with ice.
  3. Stir: Stir the mixture well for about 30 seconds until it is thoroughly chilled and properly diluted.
  4. Strain: Strain the drink into a rocks glass filled with a single large ice cube.
  5. Garnish: Gently squeeze the orange peel over the glass to release its natural oils, rub the peel along the rim, and drop it into the drink along with a few whole coffee beans.
