RecipeManagerBot

RecipeManagerBot is the importer behind Platefolio, a recipe app. If you see it in your logs, a person asked Platefolio to import a recipe from your site.

What it does

• It fetches one page, only when a Platefolio user pastes that page's link and asks to import it. It does not crawl, follow links, or revisit pages on a schedule.
• It may also fetch the recipe's main photo from the same page, so the imported recipe has its picture.
• The imported recipe keeps a link back to your page as its source.
• It identifies itself honestly, with the user agent RecipeManagerBot/1.0 (+https://platefolio.app/bot; user-initiated recipe import), and never pretends to be a browser.

robots.txt

robots.txt rules written for all bots (User-agent: *) are aimed at crawlers, and many of them exist to keep pages out of search results. RecipeManagerBot is not a crawler: each fetch is a single page a person asked for, like a browser opening a link. So it treats User-agent: * rules as advisory.

Rules that name RecipeManagerBot are always followed. To stop it fetching any page on your site, add this to your robots.txt:

User-agent: RecipeManagerBot
Disallow: /

You can also disallow only some paths, the same way as for any other bot. Your robots.txt is read fresh on every import, so a change takes effect right away.
