Cookbooks
Put recipes together into your own cookbook, with sections, a cover and a default format.
A cookbook is a collection you put together on purpose, in your own order, like “Thanksgiving” or “Recipes from Mom”. A category is a label for filtering. A cookbook has a title, a cover, sections and an order you choose.
Make a cookbook
- Choose Cookbooks at the top of the app, then + New cookbook.
- Give it a Title and choose Create cookbook.
Add recipes
There are three ways in:
- From a recipe: open it, choose More, then Add to cookbook.
- From the recipe form: use Add to a cookbook. See Type a recipe in.
- From the cookbook: choose Options, then Edit this cookbook. Type in Add a recipe by title, or add a new one Manually, From a link, From text or From a photo.
A recipe can be in as many cookbooks as you like, and taking it out of one doesn’t delete it.
Order and sections
While editing a cookbook:
- Drag recipes to reorder them, or use the arrows.
- Split a long cookbook into parts, like “Starters” and “Mains”. Type a name in New section name and choose Add section. Then drag recipes into it, or pick it from the menu on each recipe.
- Rename a section by editing its name, and reorder sections with their arrows. Delete section moves its recipes to No section; it doesn’t delete them.
- The X on a recipe takes it out of this cookbook.
Choose Done editing when you’re finished.
Cover and description
While editing, add a Description and a Cover photo. After cropping, click the part of the cover that matters most, and that spot stays in view wherever the cover is cropped.
Default format
A cookbook can open its recipes in a format of its own, for example notecards for a baking cookbook. Pick it under Default format. See Display formats.
Sharing
A cookbook can be made public, with a link anyone can open. See Share a recipe or cookbook.
Delete a cookbook
Choose Options, then Delete and Yes, delete. The recipes in it stay in your recipe list.
