Line Cook and Head Chef Plans
What the free plan includes, what counts toward its limits, and what upgrading adds.
Platefolio has two plans. Line Cook is free for as long as you use it, not a trial. Head Chef is $12 a year for your whole household. To compare them side by side, see Pricing.
What Line Cook includes
- As many recipes as you like, typed in by hand
- Every display format for every recipe, including cook mode
- Categories, sorting and filtering
- Saving public recipes other people have shared, as many as you like
- 25 imports, 1 cookbook, and about 25 recipe photos
What counts as an import
Adding a recipe from a link, from pasted text or from a photo each counts as one import, all from the same 25. An import only counts once you save the recipe, so one that fails or that you leave without saving doesn’t use one up.
These never count: typing a recipe in yourself, editing a recipe, and saving someone else’s public recipe to your collection.

What Head Chef adds
- Unlimited imports
- Unlimited recipe photos
- Unlimited cookbooks
- Up to 5 people sharing one recipe collection, so everyone in your household can add, edit and cook from the same recipes
One subscription covers everyone in the household.
Upgrading
In Settings, under Account Type, choose Upgrade, $12/year and pay with Stripe. Your household is upgraded as soon as the payment goes through. To change your card or cancel later, see Manage your subscription.
