A format is greyed out

Why a display format can't show a recipe, and what to change so it can.

A format tile is greyed out when that format can’t show the recipe well. The reason is written under the tile, and hovering over it shows the full reason.

Notecard: “Too long for a 4x6 card”

A notecard holds only so much, even using both sides. The full reason says what’s over: too many ingredients, too many steps, one very long step, or a long title. Shorten what it names, or use another format for that recipe.

Flowchart and Rails

• “no step graph yet”: Platefolio works out the chart when a recipe is saved. Open the recipe, choose More, then Edit recipe, and choose Save recipe without changing anything.
• “no steps to chart”: the recipe has no steps yet. Add some.
• “the step graph loops back on itself” or “one step doesn’t connect to the finished dish”: the chart was edited into a shape it can’t draw. Choose More, then Edit flowchart, and connect every step so it leads to the finished dish. See Edit a flowchart.

Traditional and Cook mode can show any recipe, so they’re never greyed out. See Display formats.
