Save a recipe from ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini

Save a recipe from ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini to your recipe app. One prompt formats it, then paste the reply into Platefolio to cook from and share.

If an AI assistant came up with a recipe you want to keep, one prompt gets it into Platefolio. The prompt asks the assistant to rewrite the recipe in a layout Platefolio reads cleanly, with the title, a short description, the ingredients and the steps. It works with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and most other assistants.

Save the recipe

  1. In Platefolio, choose New recipe, then From AI.
  2. Choose Copy prompt. It’s the same prompt as the one below.
  3. In the chat where the assistant wrote the recipe, send the prompt. Sending it in the same chat is what tells the assistant which recipe you mean.
  4. Copy the assistant’s whole reply, paste it into Assistant’s reply, and choose Parse recipe. Any chat around the recipe is fine: Platefolio keeps just the recipe.
  5. Check the review form, fix anything that looks off, then choose Save recipe.

Nothing is saved until you choose Save recipe.

The prompt

Rewrite the recipe above so I can paste it into Platefolio, my recipe app. Put the whole recipe in one plain text code block, using exactly this layout:

Recipe title
Servings: 4
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 30 minutes

One or two sentences describing the dish.

Ingredients
For the sauce:
2 tbsp olive oil
1 cup crushed tomatoes

Instructions
1. First step.
2. Second step.

Notes
Any tips or substitutions.

Rules:
- The description says what the dish is and what makes it good, in plain words. No headings or labels before it.
- One ingredient per line, amount first.
- No bullets, bold or other formatting inside the code block.
- Leave out a Servings or time line you don't know.
- Only use "For the ...:" lines when the recipe has separate parts.
- If there is no recipe above, ask me what I'd like to cook.

If something comes through wrong

  • The title is a sentence of chat. The reply was copied with something above the recipe that Platefolio couldn’t tell apart from it. Fix the title in the review form, or copy just the code block next time (most assistants show a copy button on it).
  • The assistant asks what you’d like to cook. It couldn’t see a recipe in the chat. Send the prompt in the chat that has the recipe, or paste the recipe in first.
  • Something else is off. The review form is where you fix it. If the assistant’s reply didn’t follow the layout at all, send the prompt again.

Platefolio never talks to the assistant itself: you send the prompt and copy the reply. To paste a recipe from anywhere else, see Import from pasted text.
