Edit a flowchart

Fix which ingredients go into which step, and which steps feed into which, so the flowchart matches how the recipe really works.

The Flowchart and Rails formats draw a recipe as a chart: ingredients go into steps, and steps feed into later steps until you reach the finished dish. Both formats use the same chart, so fixing it once fixes both.

How the chart is worked out

When you save a recipe, Platefolio reads each step and looks for the ingredients it mentions. It then assumes each step follows the one before. Groups like “For the sauce” help it spot parts that come together later.

That gets most recipes close, but not always right. A step that says “add the dry ingredients” doesn’t name them, and two parts made side by side come out as one long line.

Fix it

1. Open the recipe, choose More, then Edit flowchart. (While the chart is still Platefolio’s guess, there’s also an Edit graph link above it.)
2. Each step is listed with two sets of boxes:
   • Ingredients entering here: tick the ingredients that go into this step.
   • Fed by: tick the earlier steps whose result goes into this one.
3. The preview underneath updates as you go.
4. Choose Save graph.

Platefolio won’t let a step feed into itself through a loop of other steps, since a recipe can’t go in a circle.
