Import from pasted text

Paste a recipe from anywhere, like a blog, a note or a message, and Platefolio sorts it into ingredients and steps.

Pasting works on anything you can select and copy, so it’s the way in when a link won’t import.

Import from text

1. Copy the recipe: the title, the ingredients and the steps.
2. In Platefolio, choose + New recipe, then From text.
3. Paste into Pasted recipe text and choose Parse recipe.
4. Check the recipe in the review form and fix anything that landed in the wrong place.
5. Choose Save recipe.

Nothing is saved until you choose Save recipe.

Getting a cleaner result

• Keep the headings. Lines like “Ingredients” and “Instructions” (or “Directions” or “Method”) tell Platefolio where each part starts.
• One ingredient per line, starting with the amount: “2 cups flour”.
• Put the title first, on a line of its own.
• Leave out the extras, like comments and “jump to recipe” links. They end up as stray steps you’ll have to delete.
